Prof. Hadariah Bahron, a Professor of Coordination Chemistry and Assistant vice chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia was invited as a visiting professor at Chemistry Department of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). This program was funded by Indonesia Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) for a period of 19 July to September 19, 2017.
The head of Chemistry Department welcoming Prof. Hadariah
The chemistry department is one of the most of leading study program at UNNES with high rank on the winning of a research grant. From the grants, the staffs should publish their work on International Journal. However, it is still a significant barrier for us to deliver our work internationally. Then, the world-class visiting professor (WCP) was initiated by the workshop on publication strategy on International Journal. After that, most of Prof. Hadariah time was dedicated to the technical assistance of Chemistry Department lecturer manuscripts review.
Workshop and technical assistance on Research Collaboration Proposal
However, during her stay, she was also provided research proposal writing guidance for notably international collaboration and winning international grants. Also, she was also delivered a series of lecturer on Inorganic Chemistry mostly for coordination compounds as well as her expertise. The WCP program also gives an advantage to the department of Chemistry for internationalization through student mobility. The curriculum at Chemistry Department of UNNES has been matched with the curriculum of Chemistry Program at Faculty of Applied Science UiTM. Her last activity as a visiting professor became a keynote speaker at Joint Conference on Chemistry 2017 which was held on 19-20 September 2017 at Aston Hotel Semarang.
The WCP provide a contribution of University vision for internalization. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNNES and UiTM was signed on 2015. This program was then contributed to the implementation of collaboration points that have been covered by the MoU. In the next future, chemistry department especially, the similar program will be granted as a gateway for staff and student mobility with UiTM and other international institution.
